Mystère is a resident Cirque du Soleil production written and directed by Franco Dragone. It is the seventh Cirque du Soleil production since 1984, the first Cirque du Soleil permanent resident show, and the longest-running production to date. Mystère is about the origins of life and the human preoccupation within the universe. Mystère premiered on December 25, 1993 and has been honored eight times as “Best Production Show” by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Deemed a theatrical “flower in the desert,” Mystère thrills generations of audiences with its exhilarating blend of whimsy, drama and the unimaginable brought to life on stage. It offers the ultimate discovery that life itself is a mystery.
Performing stunts like quadruple flips off see-saws and other sick tricks we average folk couldn’t even dream up if we tried, this show is so unreal you just kinda have to let it happen. Emphasizing family-friendly, awe-inspiring athleticism and imaginative imagery, Mystère embraces all the signature Cirque du Soleil elements.
Ultimately, Mystère is a tribute to the artistry of the human body – graceful, athletic, capable of performing feats that challenge our vision of the real world.
The Mystère Theater was created by set designer Michel Crête and the Montreal-based Theater Design group. The theater seats 1,541 audience members and measures 74,000 square feet. The floor of the stage is made from a layer of Base Mat which helps performers during tumbling. The circus ring has a diameter of 36 feet and includes a 28-foot revolving stage. The revolving stage rotates up to 10 revolutions per minute. Behind the ring, there are three computer-controlled stage lifts with a capacity of 300 lbs per square foot.
